When it comes to after work Drinks in Brisbane, Woolloongabba might not be the first thing that comes to mind. Cherished for its historic buildings, iconic sporting grounds and quaint boutiques, Woolloongabba is certainly having a moment right now and has all the makings of a fabulous night out. Curious? We’ve done the hard work and uncovered the nightlife spots worth adding to your must-visit list...

The quirky and the sophisticated

A treasure-trove of enchanting antiques, Stanley Street’s mysteriously named Can You Keep A Secret is one you’ll definitely want to uncover. Serving expert-made concoctions with a dash of nostalgia, this unique wine bar is also home to a vintage clothing boutique and a series of cosy rooms decked out with the charm of yesteryear. Come for the quirky interiors, stay for the incredible live music and the enticing drinks list.

Just next door, the acclaimed C’est Bon Restaurant invites you to extend the evening. Capturing magnificent Woolloongabba views, its newly opened Ooh La La rooftop bar is the place to go for elevated cuisine, premium tipples and French-inspired sophistication.

Old-school cool

Brewhouse on the corner of Woolloongabba’s Stanley Street and Annerley Road will impress lovers of a timeless pub, while The Cave Inn on nearby Balaclava Street pairs craft beer with foot-tapping tunes. Hidden amongst a row of industrial warehouses, this popular live music haunt ticks all the right boxes. Hand-stretched pizzas? Tick. Old-school arcade machines? Tick. A buzzing atmosphere? Double tick.

If you haven’t yet had your fill of classic gaming, seek out Logan Road’s Pincadia only minutes away. This brick-lined den keeps things hassle-free with irresistible burgers, icy-cold pints and a seriously enviable collection of pinball machines. Or, sample what’s on tap at Easy Times Brewing Company just a stone’s throw away.

New kids on the block

The latest offering from the masterminds behind Logan Road precinct’s Canvas Club and Electric Avenue (don’t miss also visiting these delightful spots), Mrs J. Rabbits is a Narnia-inspired wonderland of leather Chesterfield sofas, dark timber accents and dimly-lit corners. It’s the ‘getting here’ that you’ll truly treasure. Find out the password from the staff downstairs at Electric Avenue, peek through an unassuming wardrobe, enter the code in a keypad and settle in for an Aslan’s Pride cocktail… or three.

Also, add this to your calendars – the 133-year-old Princess Theatre promises to be one of Brisbane’s most spectacular entertainment venues when it throws open its doors later this year. With the owners of The Tivoli at its helm, Queensland’s oldest-standing theatre will once again draw crowds with extraordinary performances and four new bars. Cheers to that!
