Wonderful wintery events happening in Brisbane

Winter is well and truly on its way, bringing with it a slew of thrilling events. Ready to get amongst it all? Change out of those pyjamas, pour yourself a glass of red and discover all that Brisbane has to offer this season…

‘Veuve Clicquot in the Snow’ at Customs House

What could be more wintery than settling into a plush sofa while snacking on hearty fare in a beautiful pop-up igloo? Inviting you to do just that, Customs House’s spectacular ‘Veuve Clicqout in the Snow’ offering (on until the end of June) will pair riverside scenery with wintery styling, delicious gourmet delights and excellent drinks. Be sure to book ahead to avoid missing out!

Winter Solstice Festival at Northey Street City Farm

Celebrating the longest night of the year, Northey Street City Farm’s amazing Winter Solstice Festival (Saturday, June 18) will feature everything from live music and irresistible street food to a dazzling lantern parade and an incredible bonfire. There’ll also be fire twirling, an organic market and tea ceremonies. Throw on your winter woollies and head down to the Windsor venue for an unforgettable evening.

Night Noodle Market at Brisbane City Botanic Gardens

Another fabulous event, Good Food Month’s popular Night Noodle Markets (June 15 to 26) are back after two years of Covid-related cancellations and we simply cannot wait! Taking place in the much-loved Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, the markets will be the place to go for live music, dragon dancing performances and belly-warming Asian cuisine. Did someone say ‘ramen’?

Indie Spirits Tasting Brisbane 2022 at Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall

Prefer to beat the chill by warming yourself from the inside? Bartender Magazine’s sensational Indie Spirits Tasting Brisbane 2022 event (Sunday, July 17) at Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall will include more than 25 exhibitors and over 100 craft spirits.

Adding to it all are seminars from master distillers and unmissable tastings. Peckish after sipping whisky and brandy? Wander across the road to The Barracks precinct for pork knuckles at The Bavarian or fiery Latin-American delicacies at Pilgrim by Fogata and make a night of it.

A Winter’s Journey by Music Viva at QPAC

Just across the William Jolly Bridge, South Bank’s QPAC will be hosting the talents from Music Viva Australia for a magical performance of Schubert’s ‘A Winter’s Journey’ (Thursday, July 14). Inspired by the poems of German writer Wilhelm Muller and the story of a man trekking across snowy landscapes, the performance has been reimagined to showcase Australia’s rugged scenery.

Set against a backdrop of Australian painter Fred Williams’ landscapes as captured by videographer Dave Bergman, tenor Allan Clayton will be accompanied by pianist Kate Golla to bring to life a truly phenomenal experience. Culture-fiends, add this to the ’must-see’ list.
