When it comes to preparing your home for sale, first impressions mean everything.

When staging your home, you want to create a welcoming atmosphere for potential buyers as soon as they walk in.

Rather than gutting your entire home and starting the styling from scratch, why not make use of what you already have.

We caught up with two Interior Stylists from Castle Hire Furniture, Dominique Schefe and Tahlia Spooner, to find out their tips on using your own furniture when styling your home for sale.

Tip 1: Colour Scheme

When styling, the first thing that comes into consideration is the colour scheme of your home. Have a look at what you’ve got, then work from there.

In this particular home, Dominique and Tahlia worked out the colour scheme from the original grey curtains and kickboard in the kitchen.

From there, they introduced grey and silver tones throughout the room through accessories and furniture.

Tip 2: Accessories

Accessorising a home can help it feel homely, and put together from top-to-bottom. This is an important element when styling for sale.

With accessories, it’s important to bunch them in clusters in groups of two or three as this creates a focal point.

It’s also an easy way to create more ‘oomph’ to your current pieces.

Tip 3: Adding Mirrors and Artwork

Bringing artwork and mirrors into your home can give the space a unique style and feel.

When there’s already an artwork in the space, Tahlia and Dominque like to add mirrors to empty walls.

“Mirrors will complement, rather than compete with, the current artwork and will open up the space,” they say.
