One of the main thing buyers look closely at when purchasing a home is the master bedroom.

This space can make or break a sale, which is why it’s so important to have it looking its best from the cleanliness to the decorative aspects of the room.

We caught up with Interior Stylist, Donald Ho, from Vivid Property Staging and Design, to give us his top three tips when it comes to preparing your master bedroom for sale.

Tip 1: Cleaning and decluttering

Cleaning and decluttering is an obvious and very important tip when it comes to preparing your bedroom for sale.

Donald says, “doing this allows buyers to imagine life in their new home.”

You want to ensure future potential buyers can easily picture what their life would look like in your home.

Tip 2: Accessorising

Accessorising is an essential part of every home staging plan - it adds personality to the space.

“It can introduce colour, vibrancy and character into a room and provide a real wow-factor,” says Donald.

Accessorising can decide how a potential buyer feels when they enter a room.

Tip 3: Ensuring all lighting works

Again, this tip is an obvious yet essential part of preparing the bedroom before an open home.

Ensure each lamp and fixed light are the same colour and are working properly before the open home begins.

Once you have checked that they are all consistently working, turn them on. It will set the mood, especially when the open home is held in the evening.

Tip 4: Natural Light

The amount of natural light in a room could make or break a buyer's decision when looking to purchase a home.

Where possible, maximise the natural light in the master bedroom by opening all blinds and curtains.

Donald says mirrors can help create more natural light as well.

“Try to place a mirror directly across from a window. By reflecting the light it will make the room feel and look bigger and brighter”.
