The Fainga’a Brothers are known as Rugby Union stars… but do you know their other hidden talent?

Saia and Anthony Fainga’a have been in the property investment field for over a decade and they’re kicking property goals left, right and centre.

After building and designing many homes together, they currently have a property that’s on the market on Salaria Drive at Seven Hills.

This gorgeous modern open plan home spreads over three levels and has been designed by Saia and Anthony to “feel homely”.

They poured a lot of themselves into the design and build, with little touches here and there that caters to the needs of families.

We caught up with Anthony Fainga’a to chat about the design and their future property plans.

Tell us about the style of the home

What we love about this property is that it’s the perfect combination of modern and “homey”.

For Saia and I, most of the properties we’ve invested in are generally modern all the while still exuding a warmth.

That’s a characteristic of us.

There are little touches within the home that set it apart from others.

We have open plan bathrooms in the main bedrooms with no wall separating the bath and the bed.The bath is quite large as it has to be big enough to fit Saia.

I like my clothes, therefore the walk-in wardrobes are massive, perfect for the ladies, too!

We make sure the little details around a home are perfect and always have a great space for entertaining.

Obviously you and Saia do a lot together, so what’s it like building and designing homes together?

We built the homes we currently live in.

When it comes to deciding who will live where, Saia can’t make his mind up. So the house that I thought I was originally living in, Saia has put his foot down, (because he thinks he is the oldest) and has now taken that property.

Both our properties are very similar. We do have very similar taste. I think once you’ve been around someone for so long, what you like tends to become the same.

We have learnt to agree to disagree and compromise so both our personalities come out in different aspects of the properties.

We are very lucky in that way, otherwise it could become very difficult.

If rugby wasn’t your initial chosen career, would designing and building homes be?

Saia and I are very lucky. At the age of 18 years old we invested in 3 units in Queanbeyan, NSW, where we grew up. This was our very first development together.

We spent all our time and finance investing and renovating these units. With the money from the units, we mortgaged our parents house because that was something we really wanted to do.

It is only now that we have started to do more high end properties which we really enjoy doing.

For Saia and I this is something we see ourselves doing after rugby. I think with Saia’s open mind and sales skills along with my business and finance skills, together we compliment each other.

So I suppose whatever we do, we end up doing it together.

Do you have any future plans?

At the moment, we’re behind a development in Canberra. We have about 19 units that are just about to come to the market.

They’re two bedroom terraces, again very modern, with an open plan living.

When we’re looking to carry out a new project, we’re always looking for something that’s different, whether it’s the design or a focus on the view - it has to be unique.
