Christmas is here Brisbane!

Just like that, December is here again and Christmas is soon approaching. Ready to celebrate the festive season? There are a slew of magical experiences and events taking place across Brisbane and we simply can’t wait!

Feel merry and bright at Tinseltown

If you’re partial to a mug of mulled wine or eggnog, pull up a chair at this charming pop-up bar. Transforming a South Bank venue into an adults-only Christmas wonderland, Tinseltown invites you to share a drink or two amongst the twinkle lights and holly – take us there now! Serving up plenty of holiday spirit and delicious Christmas pudding with a side of catchy carols, the bar is only open for a limited time so secure your tickets early.

While in South Bank, check out the live musicians showcasing their talent at Festive Beats or enchant the little ones in your clan with The South Bank Christmas Show at the South Bank Piazza.

Get shopping at the Christmas markets

Haven’t yet finished your Christmas shopping? Luckily, there are a multitude of fabulous Christmas markets taking place across Brisbane! Always popular, Newstead’s Gasworks Christmas Markets (December 10) will feature everything from luxury homewares and bespoke jewellery to sensational workshops and delicious bites.

North-siders, be sure to also visit the Nundah Christmas Twilight Markets (December 4) or discover South Bank’s local creatives at the Fish Lane Christmas Markets (December 19). On the south-side, the Coorparoo Christmas Markets (December 12) and Woolloongabba’s South City Square Christmas Markets (December 5) will also have plenty to enjoy.

Feel the love, actually

Whether you cherish the romance, the beautiful stories or the cracker finale, there’s no denying that Love Actually is an absolute Christmas classic! Paying homage to the 2003 film, Little Red Production Company’s ‘Christmas Actually’ (December 15 – 23) will bring all the music and magic of the movie to Kelvin Grove’s La Boite Theatre. Starring the acclaimed Naomi Price and Luke Kennedy, the dazzling show will also include plenty of laughs and a nativity lobster or two.

If you haven’t yet had your fill, watch the film on the big screen accompanied by a live orchestra at South Bank Brisbane’s Convention & Exhibition Centre when it hosts ‘Love Actually In Concert’ (December 18).

Get ready to Jingle All the Bay

A brilliant community event perfect for children and the young at heart, Sandgate’s Jingle All the Bay (December 3) is not to be missed. Taking over Sandgate Town Centre, the family-friendly festival offers a massive programme this year – expect a grand street parade, food stalls, markets, live music, dance performances and kids’ workshops. There’ll also be the chance to get a photo with Santa Claus and snap a selfie with his elves!

Let your creativity blossom

Seeking a gift idea for that craft-loving person in your life? Want to go all-out with your decorations this Christmas? Just looking for a fun experience in the lead-up to December 25? A true local icon, Francesca’s Flowers in Bardon runs a number of festive-inspired workshops that are blooming marvellous!

Complete with tea and cake (yes, please), their classes walk you through how to create amazing floral arrangements. Treat yourselves to a Christmas Wreath class or one of Francesca’s Flowers Christmas Table Arrangement workshops – that’ll surely impress the family when they rock up at yours for Christmas lunch!
