Norman Park has a population of 6,287 people, with 70% of households being families, and 62% having at least one child. This is reflected by there being more four bedroom dwellings in Norman Park (34.1%) than the national average (32.2%). Such substantial figures showcase the suburb’s abundance of attractions to offer both growing and established families.

Home to the sought-after Norman Park State School, a number of young families move to the suburb to qualify into the school’s catchment area. Norman Park State School is one of Queensland’s top primary schools, catering to children from prep to year 6. The school describes itself as ‘rich in heritage, a strong community spirit and a positive future’.

Norman Park is also located near the rear entrance to Anglican Church Grammar, providing convenient access while dodging peak hour traffic on the main roads.

Other family perks include leafy parks, great playgrounds, a large dog park, and walking distance to renowned cafes. The wide open spaces and friendly community spirit are huge perks, when considering that Norman Park is also only 4 km from Brisbane’s CBD. The suburb really ticks a number of boxes for working professionals with young or established families.

Place Bulimba agent and Norman Park enthusiast, Paula Pearce, elaborates. ‘Norman Park has such a fantastic community spirit. With Norman Park State School, fabulous parks and coffee shops, the suburb is a hive of activity with families meeting and socialising in a fun, safe and relaxing environment. Evidenced by the higher than average annual house growth rate, Norman Park is a highly desirable location and does not disappoint.’

Evidently, the suburb is sold by its convenience, strength of community, and multi-generational family friendliness. Not only appealing to young families looking for primary schools and parks, it also has an abundance to offer more established families. Norman Park resident and proud father of two teenage children, Shane Hicks, explains.

“We love living in Norman Park because of the location. We can walk to our favourite cafes and have easy access to all the things we’ve grown to love over the 17 years we’ve lived in Norman Park. It also provides really good access for my two kids who are at university and catch public transport that’s easily accessible.”

Dickens Street resident, Michelle Bignell, provides her opinion. “Having the City, New farm and Hawthorne all at your fingertips to visit all their entertainment is great. Plus, we just love the feel of a great little community.’

How could you not fall in love with family friendliness and community strength of Norman Park?
