Magical Christmas in July events happening in Brisbane

Thursday July 1, 2021 ● By Emily Russ // Place Estate Agents

December 25 might be six months away, but don’t let that stop you from getting a little festive! This year, there are a slew of extraordinary events inspired by the cooler weather and all the enchantment of Christmas. Here’s your cue to get the gang together, don your ugliest sweater and prepare to live out your winter wonderland fantasies…

Redcliffe Christmas in July Twilight Market

Taking over one of Brisbane’s prettiest coastal townships, the Redcliffe Christmas in July Twilight Market (July 10) will be one massive festive extravaganza. Featuring everything from one-of-a-kind artisan gifts and gourmet eats to live entertainment and a phenomenal fireworks display, the market also invites you to snap a selfie with an elf, fire-twirlers or Mrs Claus herself! Want to make the most of the unofficial Christmas season? Also visit the Nundah Christmas in July Market (July 17) and the Milton Markets Christmas in July Twilight Market (July 13).

Christmas in July at The Waterloo Hotel

If, like the Chats, all you want is a ‘good pub feed’, book a table for one of The Waterloo Hotel’s fabulous Christmas in July feasts. Sure to happily put you in a food coma, the Fortitude Valley venue’s three-course offering includes classics like traditional roast turkey, crispy pork belly, warm ginger cake and a bottle of bubbles. Also famed for their old-school roasts, the Pig ‘n’ Whistle at Indooroopilly will be serving up Christmas-inspired cocktails throughout July. That’s enough to get us in the festive spirit!

Go on – it’s time to dress up a little and treat yourselves to a night out at QPAC. Taking to the stage July 24 for a matinee and an evening session, the Queensland Pops Orchestra will perform a hit-list of Christmas favourites. Brisbane’s very own Three Tenors will charm with yuletide tunes, while dancers from the Davidia Lind Dance Centre will have you calling out ‘encore’! There’ll also be performances from Voices of Birralee, the Toowoomba Choral Society and Toowoomba Anglican School, making up a choir of 140 voices.

Snow4Kids at Springfield Orion

It may be called ‘Snow4Kids’ but those young at heart will love this amazing event, no matter what their age. Running until July 11 at Orion Springfield Central, the whimsical event will have you dreaming of a white Christmas (in July) with snowman-building, snowball fights and wonderful snow showers. Be sure to get in quick; their hour-long sessions don’t take long to fill!

The Winter Lodge at Riverbar and Kitchen

Looking to celebrate the occasion with a sense of refinement? Don’t miss Riverbar and Kitchen’s new Winter Lodge sessions (July 1 to August 31) to pair magnificent river views with belly-warming culinary delights. Sit around one of their fire-pit tables and enjoy classic cheese fondue infused with 4 Pines beer, or go all-out and order one of their aptly named Winter Feasts and indulge with lamb shanks and all the trimmings. DIY brownie s’mores and a wintery cocktail menu top it all off.
