Queensland may be the sunshine state, but it also has plenty to offer during the cooler months. Looking for a brilliant experience? Check out these five fantastic events happening in and around Brisbane this winter…

The Winter Village

Ever daydreamed of relaxing in a charming igloo and sipping on indulgent hot chocolate, perhaps spiked with something belly-warming?  No need to wait for flights to Scandinavia to resume; experience a magical wonderland at this year’s Winter Village (June 3 to August 29).

Taking place at Northshore Riverfront Event Site, this enchanting pop-up will invite you to enjoy a share-style feast in one of their many decked-out igloos by the Brisbane River. There will also be an ice-rink for those wanting to get their skates on, plus ‘snow showers’ that will have you channelling your inner Elsa. One more reason to add this to your must-visit list? Three words – hot espresso martinis.

Evergreen Festival

It may be the middle of the year, but don’t let that stop you from getting a little festive. Perfect for those seeking ideas for a fabulous day-trip, Tamborine Mountain’s upcoming Evergreen Festival (June 18 to 20) promises to be truly unforgettable.

Inspired by Europe’s famed Christmas markets, the three-day event will feature specially curated market stalls, sparkling lighting installations and live entertainment. If you’re wanting to go all-out, secure your spot and treat yourselves to one of Evergreen Festival’s ‘Scandi Village Dining’ sessions. Think signature cocktails and mouth-watering dishes paired with sommelier-selected regional beverages.

Rom Coms and Nom Noms at Post Office Square

Love a cheeky cost-free outing? Are you a sucker for cheesy romantic comedies? Don’t miss Brisbane’s City’s free Rom Coms and Nom Noms (June 2 to 30).

Taking place each Wednesday night in June, this wonderful event will transform the city’s Post Office Square into a sensational open-air theatre. Screening favourites such as Suddenly 30, Sleepless in Seattle and Mamma Mia, Rom Coms and Nom Noms will also include a pop-up bar catered by Isles Lane and ready-to-purchase grazing boxes. Who could ask for more?

Bonfire Night at Sandstone Point Hotel

Pack the winter woollies and head north – Sandstone Point Hotel’s incredible Bonfire Night (July 3) is back for another year and it’s sure to be a truly spectacular event.

This year, the Bribie Island-adjacent venue will host everything from fireworks and pyro displays to food trucks and fire performers. Adding to it all are gastronomic delights like mulled wine, s’mores and wood-roasted rotisserie meats, as well as carnival rides and family-friendly entertainment. Sign us up!

Seasoned Supper Club: Winter at the Tivoli

This is a date-night idea that will certainly score you brownie points. Foodies and music-lovers, book your tickets for The Tivoli’s next Seasoned Supper Club event (August 4).

Held at the Fortitude Valley theatre, this phenomenal experience will pair a two-course banquet catered by City Winery with live music from Melbourne Art-folk musician Ryan Downey. A delicious glass of mulled wine served on arrival will also have you feeling those wintery vibes.
