Husband and wife team finds new home at Place

Monday July 25, 2022 ● By Place Estate Agents

A career change into real estate helped a husband and wife team find the change they were seeking. Now they’re joining up with a brand that they feel will continue to support their lifestyle goals.

Thomas and Rhiannon Coussens have approximately 28 years of real estate experience between them, and it’s a journey they decided to take together.

Former hospitality workers, the duo decided to become registered real estate agents focusing on Brisbane’s inner west and landed jobs together soon after obtaining their licences.

They’ve continued to work together ever since, recently moving to Place Ascot team under the leadership of Drew Davies and Patrick McKinnon.

Of their working relationship, Ms Coussens explains that at this stage, they function like a well-oiled machine.

“He’s the man on the ground with the vast real estate knowledge who is constantly meeting people and negotiating, and I am the Queen organiser — basically, I am Thomas’ manager and he likes it that way,” she said.

“A great part of working with my husband is flexibility — we are our own bosses. He doesn’t have to ask me if he can go pick up the kids from school, because well, I definitely don’t want them left there on their own.”

When it comes to business, the two feel as though their priorities are well aligned. First and foremost, they focus on community, and it’s a priority that has also caused them to turn many clients into friends over the years.

“As a local business, we have always understood the importance of supporting other local people, schools and businesses,” Mr Coussens said.

“We do our best to support the community in any way we can, including offering convenient JP services during the pandemic when it was hard to find a Justice of the Peace, utilising local businesses whenever possible and sponsoring local school events.”

They’re excited to bring that roster of clients and add their expertise to the Place team while harnessing the brand’s robust support.

“We are thrilled to be able to access to the best support network in Brisbane and offer our clients access to world class marketing resources. We know that this partnership will bring a whole new level of client experience, which is how real estate should be,” Ms Coussens said.
