As the song goes, love is in the air and it’s got us daydreaming of exploring Brisbane on a romantic adventure.

Whether you’re seeking an exhilarating experience or you’re wanting to keep things low-key this Valentine’s Day, we’ve found an array of spectacular ideas that will definitely enchant that someone special!

For the adventure-lovers

A romantic Valentine’s dinner certainly isn’t a new idea… but what if you shared a delicious meal 17 metres above ground? Perched atop New Farm’s historic Brisbane Powerhouse theatre, the aptly-named Vertigo Restaurant offers an elevated dining experience where you will ascend to the edge’s rooftop for refined fare paired with spellbinding New Farm Park and city views. Topping it all off is a thrilling drop-line to the ground that’s sure to get your hearts racing!

For the classic romantics

Perfect for those ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day early, Pink Flamingo Spiegeland’s glamorous ‘Suave’ show is a glittering spectacle with everything from burlesque to dance and comedy. Dazzling audiences on Tuesday evenings (hello, Valentine’s-eve), this world-class production takes place in a permanent 400-seat Spiegel Pavilion located at Northshore Hamilton. Here’s your cue to dress up, order your favourite drink from the bar and be mesmerised by some seriously impressive entertainment!

For something a little more relaxed, treat yourselves to an unforgettable riverside picnic crafted by The Jetty South Bank. Available February 14-18, the South Bank restaurant’s ‘Lovers Picnic’ features delights such as antipasto platters, spiced sweetcorn fritters and French-inspired desserts. Chilled beverages and picturesque scenery round out a truly fantastic experience.

Haven’t yet seen the summer blockbuster hit ‘Anyone But You’? Keen to catch it a second time? We wouldn’t blame you. Toast the occasion with a glass of sparkling on arrival and settle in for a special screening under the stars at New Farm’s newly-opened Dendy Powerhouse Outdoor Cinema (Wednesday, February 14).

For the gourmands

Wine, cheese, chocolate – name a more romantic combination, we dare you. Inviting you to enjoy just this, Ardo’s Wine Bar will be offering an indulgent ‘Ultimate Romance Package’ at its Graceville, Hawthorne and Newstead venues (Wednesday, February 14) After sampling local cheeses from the award-winning Woombye Cheese, you’ll taste artisan chocolate from Brisbane’s own 31 Degrees. Of course, there will also be tipples from City Winery, including fortified wines for dessert. Delicious!

A bona fide Brisbane culinary icon, La Belle Vie Bistro & Bar in Bardon is known for its mouth-watering French cuisine and panoramic Mount Coot-tha views. Ticking all the right boxes for a lavish Valentine’s dinner, the restaurant will be serving up an enticing four-course menu to be savoured while listening to a live musician (Wednesday, February 14).

Prefer an evening in the city but can’t decide exactly where to go? Tucked away in bustling Fortitude Valley, California Lane will be hosting a culinary collaboration from three of its most popular venues. Taking over the entire laneway, an exclusive ‘Laneway Valentine’s Day’ experience includes a glass of sparkling on arrival and a four-course menu inspired by Mexican restaurant Viva La Cali, comic book-themed bar 1st Edition and sophisticated haunt Stir Down. Cheers to that!

For the ‘big kids’

What’s your go-to duet? Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ ‘Islands in the Stream’ or maybe Sonny and Cher’s ‘I Got You Babe’? Get ready to belt out cherished tunes together at Fortitude Valley’s Lost Souls Karaoke. Recently opened by the creatives behind Netherworld Bar, Arcade & Diner, this quirky musical venue boasts five private karaoke rooms decked out in whimsical flair. Be sure to check out Lost Souls’ bar and hit the pinball machines at Netherworld next door afterwards.

Just a leisurely stroll away, Oche Brisbane is another date-night favourite that is not to be missed. Transforming the classic game of darts to showcase digital boards and a slew of sensational games, the mood-lit Constance Street venue will also impress with its delectable food and drinks menu. Score!

Across the river, Kangaroo Segway Tours in West End will have you seeing the city’s icons in a whole new way on one of its small-group ‘Scenic Adventure Night Tours’. Beginning with a quick training session, the two-hour tour traverses the cosmopolitan landscape and features many stops for photos along the way. Expect visits to much-loved locations like the South Bank Boardwalk and Roma Street Parklands.
