Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital Foundation Charity Auction

Thursday November 25, 2021 ● By Daisy Hicks // Place Estate Agents

Place Estate Agents Royal Brisbane Womens Hospital

Place Estate Agents are incredibly proud to be representing the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) foundation in a spectacular Auction event set to raise millions of dollars.

What happens when a couple leaves their property portfolio to one of Brisbane's largest charities? A once in a lifetime Auction event!

This isn't your ordinary charity story. In 2016, the RBWH Foundation received an anonymous donation from two people - once patients of the RBWH - who had left their property portfolio to the hospital as a gesture of kindness due to the care they received in their lives.

The RBWH Foundation have been holding the properties ever since, waiting until they felt they could maximise the result for the parties who donated.

Due to our deep community and charity ties, Place were invited to speak to the board. Soon after, agents Sarah Hackett and Alex Rutherford of Place New Farm were appointed to market and sell the homes.

RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske said the benefactors did not specify where the proceeds of the sale of the properties should go, but they would be distributed to those with the "greatest and most strategic need."

"The couple wished to remain anonymous and while I never had the opportunity to meet them, RBWH Foundation respects their wish to remain anonymous and more importantly, we respect their real interest and desire to make a difference to the lives of others by supporting the RBWH Foundation in this way."

Sarah Hackett has involved herself in numerous charity causes throughout her real estate career but says this is one of the most significant.

"We will also be donating a significant amount of our fees back to the hospital where we know it will make a real difference to people's lives."

The properties, worth about $5 million in total and in prime Brisbane suburbs, range from units in Wilston, Lutwyche and Clayfield to houses in Newmarket.
