Place’s 2022 Auction Season is off to a cracking start, with the momentum that was experienced in 2021 rolling into 2022 across Brisbane. 

Place’s Chief Auctioneer Peter Burgin predicts that the auction action Place experienced in 2021 will continue in 2022, despite the increase in COVID-19 cases in Queensland. 

“2021 was a standout year for Place who collectively, held over 1100 Auctions across Brisbane,” Burgin said.  

“We’ve eased ourselves into the 2022 market with six auctions being held over the weekend. Four of these homes were sold under the hammer and two properties have gone under offer which is very exciting.”  

Burgin noted that while the rising COVID-19 cases over the Christmas period were unsettling, the Brisbane market has remained resilient.  

“We were unsure with how the first few weeks of auctions in 2022 would play out due to the case numbers rising...but there was always going to be a natural growth in COVID-19 numbers with restrictions being lifted,” he said. 

“While we were uncertain of what this meant for auctions in Brisbane, it was an opportunity to take a step back and assess what the market's reaction would be.

“The great news is, is that it feels like the market is out in full force. We’re seeing record numbers and are witnessing great confidence in Brisbane property. 

“We have had record numbers for open homes and the first week of the Place Auction Season was a remarkable success."

Burgin is looking forward to seeing great clearance rates over the coming months, with auction bookings picking up in February. 

“We’re looking forward to a massive February with an excess of 100 auctions booked already across the Place group and we’re epecting great clearance rates.”
