Place supports A Home For All Foundation this World Homelessness Day

Friday October 10, 2025 ● By Eliza Irwin // Place Estate Agents

World Homelessness Day, observed on October 10th, provides an important opportunity to raise awareness of homelessness and housing insecurity, issues that affect thousands of Australians each year. At Place, one of our core values is Community, and we are proud to support a meaningful initiative that aligns with this commitment – the A Home For All Foundation.

The Home For All Foundation was established to leverage the property industry’s influence to increase awareness, raise funds and build long term change for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. The foundation brings together property professionals nationwide, working collaboratively to address one of Australia’s most pressing social challenges.

Understanding the scope of homelessness in Australia

Homelessness extends beyond sleeping on the street; it encompasses a broad spectrum of housing insecurity including those living in temporary accommodation, in their cars or “couch surfing” with friends and family. On any given night, 122,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness, and an estimated 1 in 10 Australians are at risk of losing their home.

As Place Estate Agents CEO, Damian Hackett states, “You don’t have to go far to see families under pressure with rising rents and living costs. If we’re serious about community, we need to be part of the solution right here in Brisbane.”

Temporary accommodation shortages, financial stress, and limited access to affordable housing all contribute to housing insecurity. By supporting initiatives such as the A Home For All Foundation, the property industry can play a pivotal role in creating meaningful, long-term change.

Our commitment to community action

In line with this commitment, our team at Place HQ will participate in A Night Without Home this October. This initiative provides participants with an immersive understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness, while also supporting fundraising efforts for the A Home For All Foundation.

Mr Hackett, who will be participating, emphasises the role of the property sector:

“As CEO, I talk a lot about our values, especially community. For me, this is a chance to live it out  in a meaningful way. I’ve been fortunate to build a career around homes and security, that’s why it’s important to our business, and to me personally, to step up.”

“Homelessness is closer than many realise. By stepping up as an industry, we can help ensure more Australians have access to safe and secure housing.”

How you can support

At Place, we recognise that meaningful change requires collective effort. We encourage our clients and community to support the A Home For All Foundation through donations, advocacy, and participation in initiatives that raise awareness and provide assistance to those in need. Contributions can be made via our fundraising page here.

Together, we can advance a future where all Australians have access to secure, stable, and safe housing.
