Mother's Day Brisbane, 2022

Still brainstorming ideas for celebrating your mum this Mother’s Day? Don’t stress! We’ve searched across Brisbane and discovered a multitude of sensational events and experiences that will have her feeling the love.

In Brisbane’s Inner City

Traditionalists will love Sofitel Brisbane’s special ‘High Tea with the Queensland Ballet’ experience (Sunday, May 8). Imagine watching a mesmerising ballet performance in the venue’s magnificent Ballroom Le Grand before sipping sparkling wine and indulging in a decadent high tea – heaven!

If your mum is more about getting her steps in, make wonderful memories of a different kind and take part in the cherished Mother’s Day Classic fun run (Sunday, May 8). Raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research, this exciting event takes place across Brisbane’s CBD. Get the blood pumping together with a thrilling 4.5- or 8-kilometre run or enjoy a leisurely stroll while soaking up the sunshine and beautiful scenery.

Seeking an active outing that’s a little more laid-back? Discover phenomenal art on a ‘Mother’s Day-inspired First Nation’s Art Tour’ (Sunday, May 8) through South Bank with Aboriginal Art Co.

In Brisbane’s Eastside

Famed for its refined French cuisine, Woolloongabba’s C’est Bon Restaurant & Le Bon Bar will be hosting a three-hour ‘Crepes and Paint’ event (Sunday, May 8) in its delightful rooftop dining area. Led by the talents at Cork & Chroma, you’ll create your very own masterpiece, savour mimosas and share delicious crepes. Or, for something more substantial, treat your mum to a three-course lunch in the acclaimed restaurant and bring to life your own Parisian night sky on canvas.

Just a short walk away, the iconic Gabba Cricket Grounds offers a spectacular VIP experience that is sure to impress any sport-obsessed mum. A great way to kick off Mother’s Day early (pun intended), the venue invites you to watch the Brisbane Lions play against the West Coast Eagles while sampling gourmet bites and cocktails in their GG Lounge (Saturday, May 7).

Looking to keep things a little more relaxed? Pick up some goodies from Hawthorne Garage, order one of Darvella Patisserie’s limited-edition Mother’s Day cakes and sit down to a picnic at Bulimba Riverside Park.

In Brisbane’ Westside

Could you, your mum or little one do with a little unwinding? Join the friendly crew from Ignite Yoga Brisbane at Rocklea’s Zen Yoga Pilates studio for a unique two-hour yoga class and fun craft experience (Saturday, May 7). Tailored to mums and children aged 8 to 14 (grandmas are also welcome), this fabulous offering will have you feeling refreshed for the weekend ahead. Bonus tip – the Brisbane Flower Markets are just next door.

Another family-friendly offering, Creative Kids Brisbane will be running fantastic ‘Mother’s Day banners’ craft classes in leafy Rocks Riverside Park (Friday, May 6). They’ll provide all the art essentials; all you (or your mini-me) have to do is put together a special decoration celebrating your appreciation for mum. Cute! Top everything off with lunch or coffee at one of the amazing cafes across Brisbane’s west – favourites include Graceville’s Plentiful, Jindalee’s Piggy Back Café and Brookfield’s Wild Canary Bistro.

In Brisbane’s Northside

Want to feel like you’ve escaped to a rustic country estate without driving for hours? Samford’s Loop Growers will be throwing open their barn doors Saturday and Sunday for two seriously lavish lunches. Featuring a menu curated by celebrity chef and local Alastair McLeod that showcases the region’s best produce, both three-course dining experiences will also include an unforgettable harp performance.

A stone’s throw away, George Willmore Park in Ferny Hills will be hosting this year’s ‘Mother’s Day Music in the Park’ event (Sunday, May 8). Expect live performances, food trucks, markets and a magical fireworks display. Haven’t yet had your fill of markets? Swap the countryside for the waterfront and wander through the much-loved Redcliffe Markets nearby.

In Brisbane’s Southside

Just a quick detour off the Gateway Motorway, Eight Mile Plain’s The Glen Hotel is a go-to for exceptional family gatherings. Gather the whole clan and enjoy an incredible Mother’s Day breakfast buffet (Sunday, May 8) complete with live music, giant games and an adorable animal farm. You can also share the good vibes by sending in a message and the venue will show it on their huge six-metre sign – how’s that for scoring brownie points?

Another brilliant outing, Larapinta Equestrian’s upcoming Mother’s Day Picnic Polo event (Sunday, May 8) will feature margaritas, irresistible street food and plenty of exhilarating sporting action. Also promising to get the heart racing, Currumbin’s HAPY Studios will have you channelling your inner P!nk and Willow with their Mother’s Day Aerial Workshop (Saturday, May 7). Learn new skills, share a few laughs and make magical new memories… what more could you ask for on Mother’s Day?
