The Chelmer Station Community Kindy Lantern Parade is back again this year for its fifth annual lantern parade.

Tots from around the local area are invited to make lanterns and parade around the netball courts at Graceville into the dark.

The tradition was started by local mum Caroline, originally from Germany. Coming from Germany, Caroline is very fond of the annual lantern parade, held to celebrate the winter solstice and St Martin’s Day.

While we may not have an adorable village, Caroline has carried the tradition over to Australia for our winter and the community love it!

Festivities this year start at 4:30pm on June 22 and the lantern parade itself will begin at 6pm.

Make a lantern and come on down!
