Growing a high-performing real estate business means growing a team. For most agents, that means doing it alone: writing the ad, screening the candidates, drafting the contract and hoping you’ve picked the right person.
At Place, it works differently. Our in-house HR & Recruitment team finds, hires and sets up the right people, so our agents can stay focused on their clients. To see what that looks like, we asked Pat Goldsworthy, Lead Agent at Place Bulimba, how it has helped him scale his business. This is The Place Advantage: powering your property career, with the team behind every Place agent.
How HR helped Pat scale his business
We asked Pat two questions: how has the HR team supported you in recruiting and building your team, and what difference has that made to you as a high-performing agent?
Pat’s business has grown 2.5 times, and he says Place HR has been fundamental to that growth, “through really good recruitment.”
Agents are time-poor, and their focus needs to be on listing and selling. So when Pat wants someone to join his team, HR runs the first and second round meetings. Once they’ve identified someone who will suit Pat and his personality, he comes in for a third. It’s a process that’s worked really well for Benjamin Austin, who joined Pat’s team.
Just as critical, Pat says, is HR helping create structures that keep people in the team and help them grow. Benjamin came on board and was really growing within the business and started targeting his own core area. Pat wanted to keep him in his team: “He’s my right hand, he’s a very, very good sales agent in his own right.” So HR came up with a model that helps Benjamin grow, gets his profile out there and rewards him fairly. Pat says: “It comes down to flexibility, and finding solutions where everyone can thrive”.
In Pat’s words: “HQ and HR are fundamental to my growth and my team’s growth.”
What’s behind it: Place HR
Jas from our HR team puts it simply: “Agents shouldn’t have to build a team alone.” In her words, “We headhunt talent. We keep pipelines warm. We draft the award compliant contracts, every time.” Here’s how that works:
- Find: recruitment campaigns, headhunting and dedicated Talent Partners who run the early interview rounds, so you only meet candidates worth your time
- Hire: structured interviews, salary benchmarking, role scoping and award-compliant contracts tailored to you and your team
- Keep: onboarding from day one, structures that help your people grow, and ongoing advice on performance, and employee relations
As Jas says, “We handle it all, so agents don’t have to become HR experts overnight.”
What it means for you
The result is your time back for listing, selling and looking after clients. Jas sums it up: “Less risk. Faster hiring process. Better retention.” And it’s the same level of support for every agent, in every office, whatever the size of your team.
“We’re not just filling a role. We’re helping you grow your business.”
What could you build with HR behind you?
A dedicated team in your corner from day one, taking care of the people side of growth so you can focus on your clients. That’s The Place Advantage.
