Advice with the Place Infinity Club | Part 3

Tuesday November 23, 2021 ● By Daisy Hicks // Place Estate Agents

Following on from Part 1 with Paula Pearce, and Part 2 with Aaron Woolard we are excited to sit down with Shane Hicks and his team and hear about his journey in Real Estate to now.

Shane Hicks and the Hicks Team

Shane describes his journey into Real Estate as a mid-life correction. After a successful career in high level management positions for Australian retail groups, Shane found himself in a position where it was now or never. Knowing real estate was something he wanted to do, he took up the opportunity. Nine years later, Shane and his team of five are known for their expertise in Camp Hill, seamless Auctions and providing rockstar customer service.

What do you enjoy most about Real Estate?

"The buzz you get along the way. The journey from getting a form 6 signed, launching a property to market and then auction day is such a ride. Each milestone gives you a great feeling. I also really love seeing buyers and sellers so happy on Auction day!"

Can you explain your team and everyones roles within it?

  • Shane Hicks, Lead Agent. Lead the team, list property and champion the brand
  • Antonio Puopolo, co-agent. Support the team by providing outstanding service to buyers and identifying listing opportunities.
  • Julia Doyle, Lead Agent. We've just introduced Julia to the Hicks Team. Her Lead Agent role focusses on extending the reach of our brand in a neighbouring suburb.
  • Alex Knights, Operations Manager. To make the team run smoothly so goals can be achieved seamlessly
  • Sallie Littleton, Agent Support. Alongside Alex, Sallie provides administrative support to the team and our clients.

How does it feel to be recognised as one of the leading agents at Place?

"Incredibly rewarding."

What is something you do that you might credit this achievement too?

"A couple of things. Firstly, previous business and negotiation skills and understanding how I could apply that to my role as an agent. Then, good relationships within my local community. Lastly, lots of hard work."

What's one piece of advice you would give to anyone considering starting in Real Estate?

"Be prepared for a very tough first year but don’t give up! Don’t sweat the small stuff. Persist and find a prospecting method that you are good at and enjoy doing then do this over and over and over again."

What's next for you and your team?

“This year we achieved infinity level so from here it's 'to infinity and beyond' aiming for $2 million in fees. This will be achieved with Julia and Sallie coming on board."
