From Starting Over to Standing Ovation: Place Camp Hill’s Julia Doyle named Josh Phegan’s 2025 Changed Agent of the Year

Thursday August 14, 2025 ● By Jenna Fearnley // Place HQ

Place Camp Hill’s Julia Doyle has been named Josh Phegan’s 2025 Changed Agent of the Year, a prestigious accolade recognising real estate professionals who have transformed their careers through resilience, execution, and personal growth.

The award celebrates agents across Australia and New Zealand who have applied lessons from Josh Phegan’s training, from daily emails to live events and private coaching, to achieve life-changing results.

Finalists are peer-nominated and share their stories on stage at Josh’s Real Estate Blue-Print conference before an audience of hundreds and a panel of leading industry figures, with the event live-streamed across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the UAE.

Julia’s win comes with $17,000 in cash and prizes, including a one-on-one consulting day with Josh and a 12-month subscription to Josh Phegan Digital.

When Julia returned to Australia from Paris in 2019 with her husband and two young children, she was starting over - not just in a new city, but in a new industry.

“It’s fierce competition. Over 60 agents from across Australia applied, and only four were selected as finalists,” Josh Phegan said.

Julia went from writing zero GCI to a million in just two years, but she describes it as incredibly hard work and dedication.

“We had two kids in daycare, and it was more expensive for me to go to work than to stay home,” Julia said in her finalist presentation.

That moment led her to go “all in” as a commission-only agent - a decision she describes as her “burn the ships” moment.

“It was a complete and irreversible commitment, no retreat, no turning back,” she said. “I’d either succeed or have to find another ladder to climb. But this time, it had to be the right wall.”

She described how the early months were tough.

“I felt like I’d leapt, and the net hadn’t appeared - just a black hole. But I showed up every day with purpose. I was consistent. I executed what I knew. I fought for every opportunity. One listing turned into two, then into four, and I started building my brand,” Julia said.

She credits much of her turnaround to the structures, language, and mindset she gained from Josh’s training.

“When Julia came to Blue-Print, she stood out because she had done the work,” Josh said.

“She had clarity, discipline, and the courage to back herself. She’s the perfect example of what happens when you align your personal and professional life and go all in.”

Julia’s story resonated with the Blueprint audience for its honesty and humour.

She joked about being “mad about running” but only entering races for “the participation medal and the free sandwiches” before reminding the crowd that building a career was also about persistence over speed.

Her personal mantra, drawn from her journey, is simple: “Be brave. Be curious. Be kind. Be yourself.”

“If I can share one pearl of wisdom: Josh can’t make you successful, but he can give you everything you need to be successful; the only person who can make you successful is you,” she said.

“This job will test you, but if you practice resilience, master your skills, execute with precision, have fun, and stay true to yourself, you can change your life.”

One of the huge advantages we have at Place is access to exclusive training with Josh here in Brisbane - eight full days a year. It’s been a game-changer for me,” Julia said.

Place Estate Agents Managing Director Paul Curtain said Julia’s recognition was richly deserved.

“Julia is the definition of a growth mindset,” Paul said.

“She entered the industry with no real estate background but exceptional professionalism, curiosity, and grit. She’s built a thriving business and stayed true to herself, qualities that make her such a valued part of Place and an inspiration to her peers.”

Now a Lead Agent at Place Camp Hill, Julia is building her own team, “Team Sunshine,” mentoring others, and continuing to grow her business.
