A racecourse-front home owned by leading Queensland racing identities Caitlin and Matt Hoysted has sold off-market, setting a record for Mein Street and becoming Hendra’s second-highest residential sale.
The five-bedroom home at 102 Mein Street was sold by Place Ascot Director Patrick McKinnon for an undisclosed price.
While Mr McKinnon could not reveal the figure, the result sits behind only the $6.55 million sale of 61 Goodwood Street, which occupies a significantly larger 1012sqm parcel.
The Hoysteds’ home sits on 725sqm and directly backs onto Eagle Farm Racecourse, where Group 1-winning trainer Matt Hoysted is based.
Caitlin, a former trainer, is the breeder and owner of Group 1 winner Uncommon James, who is trained by her husband.
The couple lived at 102 Mein Street for three years and will remain in the street after purchasing a larger block about 100 metres away through Place Ascot.
“Mein Street is our favourite street in Brisbane,” Caitlin said.
“There would be very few places in the world where you can live in a beautiful residential street and have your backyard directly overlooking a major racecourse.
“We loved living at 102 for the past three years. The only reason we are moving is because our lifestyle means we need more space.
“When the opportunity came up through Place Ascot to buy the last and largest block in the street, we knew we had to take it. We get to build another home while keeping the trackside lifestyle we love.”
Only a limited number of homes in Mein Street directly adjoin Eagle Farm Racecourse, creating a tightly held pocket sought after by racing industry figures and prestige buyers.
The location offers uninterrupted track views while remaining close to the airport, leading schools and Brisbane CBD.
Designed for trackside living, 102 Mein Street features five bedrooms, four bathrooms and accommodation for three vehicles, along with multiple living areas, a dedicated study and a 10m magnesium pool.
Full-height doors connect the main living and dining area to an elevated entertaining deck overlooking the racecourse.
The home also includes a Miele kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a lower-level media room, two outdoor barbecue areas, a wet bar, wine storage, gym space and a second driveway with room for a caravan, boat or horse float.
Mr McKinnon said he could not comment on the final price but confirmed the sale had set a new benchmark for Mein Street.
“It is the highest sale ever achieved in Mein Street and the second-highest residential sale recorded across Hendra,” he said.
“To achieve that result off market on 725sqm shows how strongly buyers will compete for quality homes that cannot be easily replaced.”
The sale was completed through Place Ascot’s existing buyer network without a public advertising campaign.
“The market is changing and buyers are becoming more selective, but demand for exceptional homes remains strong,” Mr McKinnon said.
“When the right property becomes available in a tightly held location, qualified buyers are still prepared to act quickly.”
