Queensland’s favourite footy legend Wally Lewis caused a stir in Brisbane’s bayside on Grand Final weekend, after he was spotted inspecting a luxury coastal home in Wynnum ahead of tonight’s NRL decider, listed with Place Bulimba.
The Maroons great turned heads at 50 Prospect Street, Wynnum, listed with Karen Chappell of Place Bulimba, spending the entire hour-long inspection walking through the property, taking in the ocean views, and happily posing for photos with starstruck locals who couldn’t believe their luck.
“There were about 10 groups through, but everyone’s attention was on the stunning views and of course, Wally and his wife,” Karen said. “He was so friendly, chatting to everyone and soaking up those views. You could tell he loved it.” Wally, who’s made no secret of his love for the water, told the Place agent that the view was so stunning it’d be hard to put a price on it. While Karen wouldn’t reveal what the footy icon’s purchasing intentions are, she said it was no surprise that the King might be looking to call the bayside home. “With the water, the views, and the lifestyle, Wynnum and Manly have never been more desirable,” she said. “It’s the perfect spot for someone like Wally who clearly loves being near the ocean.”
Set high on one of Wynnum’s most elevated streets, this dual-level showpiece has been meticulously renovated to capture breathtaking ocean panoramas from both levels. Boasting 409 square metres of living space, a 17-metre heated magnesium mineral lap pool with a splash zone, travertine bathrooms, and lush tropical landscaping, it’s a standout example of modern coastal luxury. The property will go under the hammer at Place’s flagship auction event, The Day, on October 25, where dozens of properties will be sold across Brisbane in what’s shaping up to be one of the agency’s biggest days of
the year. Auctioneer and Place One Group Principal, Sam Kelso said the home has been a crowd favourite since launch, with buyer interest across the board reflecting Brisbane’s continued market strength.
“Buyer activity is thriving across Brisbane right now,” Sam said. “There’s so much energy in the market; and when you combine a home like this with a view like that, it’s no wonder footy legends are looking for themselves. The Day always brings incredible momentum, and this one will be no exception.”
The property goes under the hammer on October 25 at 1pm.
