The Learning Advantage: How Place Training Helps Agents Grow

Tuesday October 27, 2026 ● By Lara Jones // Place Estate Agents

What would your business look like if your training never stopped? For a lot of agents, it stops after a one-off induction. From there, you're on your own, piecing together whatever development you can find around the next listing.

At Place, it works differently. Our in-house Training & Development team builds skills alongside our agents and their teams at every stage, from onboarding through to advanced coaching.

To find out what that looks like in practice, we sat down with two people who see it every day: Shane Hicks, Partner and Lead Agent at Place Camp Hill, and Jorgia from our Auctions and Training team.

This is The Place Advantage: powering your property career, with the team behind every Place agent.

Shane Hicks on keeping a team sharp

Shane Hicks is Partner and Lead Agent at Place Camp Hill. We asked him how Place's training supports him and his team in sharpening their sales skills.

It starts the moment someone joins. "The onboarding gets them up to speed very, very quickly, which is great," says Shane. "We get them involved with the training every step of the way." When the Josh Phegan training comes around, Shane and his team always attend. He says it keeps paying off, giving him fresh ideas on what's happening in the market and helping him adapt what he's doing to suit it.

The learning doesn't stop there. "Right from the start, from day one, and then the refresher training all the way through, that just keeps people focused," Shane says.

In Shane's words: "There's never been a time where I haven't brought something away that has added to the business."

What's behind it: Place Training & Development

To understand what sits behind that experience, we spoke with Jorgia from our Auctions and Training team. "Training and development doesn't stop once an agent starts," she says. "We're with them at every stage, building their skills, and building their business." Here's how that works:

  • Start: onboarding and foundational sales skills, so new starters get up to speed quickly
  • Build: structured programs, resources and coaching tailored to where each agent is at, through to advanced coaching, leadership development and specialist workshops
  • Connect: a full calendar of events, including The Climb, Mission, Place Way Open Day, The Coach (our Josh Phegan training), Annual Awards and the Leaders Offsite

As your team grows, new starters get access to that same quality of support. What sets it apart, says Jorgia, is that it's specific to Place. "It's not generic industry training, it's built around how Place actually operates," she says. "The tools we use. The systems we run on. The way we do business."

What it means for you

The result is skills that keep pace with the market, for you and your team, from day one right through to the refresher training. Less time working out what to learn next, and more time listing, selling and looking after clients.

As Jorgia puts it, "We invest in our people, so our people can keep investing in their business."

What could you build with training behind you?

A team in your corner at every stage of your career, helping you and your team grow. That's The Place Advantage.
