One year on: How Place Albany Creek thrived in challenging times

Starting a business is an exhilarating yet challenging feat but opening a thriving business in the height of a pandemic, is a whole different story.

 

The Place Albany Creek office have been a part of the Place family for just over one year now and since humble beginnings, we’ve witnessed this now flagship office for Brisbane Northside grow into a well-established, flourishing team.

Setting out to offer something in the area that was ‘missing’ and provide a higher level of service than ever before, James commenced his journey with Place with the business goal of expanding his team with an inclusive, goal-driven culture that celebrated triumphs and endeavoured to make a positive impact in their community.

The Place Albany Creek office is now a successful team of six driven real estate professionals and as well as running a prosperous sales division, the team navigate a busy rent role that enables them to engage in long-term client relationships with their landlords and tenants.

We recently spoke with Director of the Albany Creek office, James Gwynne to reflect on the year that was and discussed what it was like to prosper in light of COVID-19.

 

 

Were you anxious about starting a business in the midst of a pandemic?

The most difficult part of any task is just starting! COVID-19 presented as an additional roadblock, but we didn’t let it stop us from hitting the ground running and making a positive impact from the get go. While we had to adjust some of our everyday tasks and procedures, the leadership and support available to us as agents and business leaders is unprecedented when it comes to being adaptable in uncertain times. The professional services team keep us regularly updated and provide complete support to help us carry on business as usual.

 

 

What are some key achievements that you’ve accomplished in your first year?

At the Place Quarterly awards, we were awarded the 3rd Best New Place office for the 2021 Winter Quarter. This could not have been achieved without the support of my amazing team and the Place community. We also recently had our Place annual awards where Daniel Chistensen, who has consistently brought an abundance of enthusiasm to his role here in the Albany Creek team was awarded a Place Performer for 2020-2021 Award! It’s incredible watching my team continue to grow and thrive, watching them succeed has been my greatest business achievement!

How have you continued to flourish?

We have such an amazing support system around us and our community encourages us to be our best every day! This combined with Place’s outstanding marketing and thorough systems enables us to continue to assist our clients with their property journey’s and strive for excellence in everything that we do!

 

 

Any exciting business plans in the future?  

We are really excited to continue to grow our rent role, this is such a fast-paced and high-energy aspect of our business that will only continue to get better and better! We are also slowly but surely outgrowing our current office, so watch this space!
