Finding Purpose, Creating Momentum: Inside Place Mission Day 27

Thursday June 25, 2026 ● By Eliza Irwin // Place Estate Agents

The Place network recently came together for the first event in our new Elevation Series: Place Mission Day 27.

Building on the success of previous Mission Days and bringing together elements of our conference experience, the event united team members from across the network for a day of inspiration, education and shared ambition. It was an opportunity to reflect on where we've been, define where we're going, and create meaningful goals for the financial year ahead.

While each speaker brought a unique perspective, one message resonated throughout the day: purpose drives performance.

At Place, our purpose is simple: to help people find their happy place. It's a purpose that guides the way we serve our clients, support one another and continue to grow as a business.

Purpose in Action

Keynote speakers Marcus Pearce and Abbey Holmes challenged attendees to think bigger about what drives them.

Marcus shared his framework on how to make the rest of your life the best of your life, encouraging everyone to be intentional about how they invest their time, energy and focus. His message was a reminder that long-term success is built through consistent action and a clear understanding of what matters most.

Abbey brought her trademark energy and authenticity, reflecting on how many of the opportunities that shaped her career came from simply saying yes before having all the answers. She spoke openly about fear, describing it not as a stop sign, but as a distraction that can prevent people from pursuing their goals if they allow it to.

Together, their messages reinforced an important idea: growth often begins on the other side of discomfort.

Insights from Industry Leaders

The day also featured valuable perspectives from some of the industry's leading voices.

In conversation with Place CEO Damian Hackett, Michael McNab of McNab Group explored the major shifts shaping today's property landscape. Their discussion touched on evolving buyer behaviour, emerging opportunities and the trends likely to influence the market in the years ahead.

Shane Bateman from Haiven Property Group delivered a compelling session on the power of data, reminding attendees that knowledge remains one of the strongest competitive advantages in real estate. His message was clear: know the numbers, trust the metrics, and have the courage to tell people what they need to hear, not simply what they want to hear.

A Story That Inspired the Room

One of the most powerful moments of the day came from one of our very own, Ben Cannon, Growth Partner at Place HQ.

Sharing a deeply personal story, Ben spoke about how adversity helped shape his sense of purpose and ultimately led him to establish Voice for Victims, a foundation that provides support and advocacy for people experiencing some of life’s most difficult moments.

Ben explained that when these experiences happen, home can often become an unhappy or unsafe place, and their work is centred on restoring stability and support so that home can once again feel like a safe and happy place. He reflected on the clear synergy between both organisations, noting that ultimately both Place and Voice for Victims are in the people business, supporting people at different points in their lives, from change to milestones and everything in between.

His journey demonstrated how challenges can become catalysts for positive change, and how individual experiences can create meaningful impact for others.

It was a powerful reminder that purpose isn't always found in success alone, often, it's discovered through resilience.

Looking Ahead

Closing the day, Paul Curtain, Managing Director and Principal of Place One Group, shared an exciting update on the future of Place Auctions with the launch of our newly evolved Auctions Menu.

As a cornerstone of the Place offering, auctions continue to play a significant role in delivering outstanding outcomes for our clients. This latest evolution provides agents and clients with greater choice, flexibility and opportunity, ensuring the auction experience can be tailored to suit a wider range of property and campaign needs.

The launch reflects Place's commitment to continually refining and enhancing what we do, staying ahead of the market and delivering exceptional experiences at every stage of the property journey.

This is just the beginning. Exciting plans are already on the horizon as Place builds momentum and steps into its next chapter. Watch this space. Place is about to paint the town orange.

More Than an Event

Mission Day 27 wasn't simply about setting goals for the year ahead. It was about reconnecting with the reasons we do what we do, learning from those around us and gaining the confidence to pursue bigger opportunities.

At Place, we're committed to creating an environment where people can grow professionally, contribute meaningfully and build careers with purpose.

Because when people are connected to a shared purpose, extraordinary things happen.
