We’ve all read the story of Sleeping Beauty, where she pricks her finger on a spinning wheel and falls into a deep sleep.

Spinning is an ancient art and Graceville mum, Hellena Post, is determined to bring it back into style and teach more people the way of the wheel.

Hellena is a fiber artist based in Graceville, and has travelled Australia selling her spun wares at markets and more!

Hellena says she fell in love with spinning at 30, when her mum bought her a spinning wheel.

“I stayed up past 2am while I practiced because I didn’t want anyone to see me being so uncoordinated.”

She soon fell in love and has been spinning ever since, creating everything from scultures to blankets to lampshades.

Hellena and her family are fairly new to the Graceville area and she says she hopes to run classes in the future teaching others the craft of spinning!

Her passion for her craft is incredible, and you need to see her workshop! Take a look...

If you are interested in spinning, you can contact Hellena via her blog here.
